Yarra Valley Hockey Tour To Singapore

Yarra Valley Hockey Club were in Singapore a for a few days en-route to Malaysia. This was the second year running that the club had toured this part of the world. Following that first successful tour, YVHC had decided to return. In their first match, they played CNC Utd at the St Hilda's Secondary School. It was a first for the tourists who had never experienced St Hilda's unique rooftop astroturf pitch. Despite drawing 1-1 at half-time, the long flight began to take its toll and CNC went on to win 5-2. In the second match, YVHC renewed acquaintances with Singapore U-18s whom they place twice in 2010 when they were part of the Singapore Youth Olympic team. The matcch took place at the World Class Sengkang Stadium. YVHC took an early lead but were overwhelmed 9-2 in the end. Nevertheless, the boys enjoyed themselves thoroughly and it set-up the rest of the tour quite nicely.
